High pressure shifting south of the region will allow for mostly clear skies and generally above average temperatures through midweek as winds come out of the south and west.
Temperatures rise Tuesday as southwest winds usher in the heat and moisture under mostly clear skies. High temperatures will be about 10 degrees above average and will approach 90 degrees for much of the region with cooler spots in the lower 80s closer to the coast. Lows Tuesday night will be in the middle 60s.
The next frontal system will approach the region from the west late on Wednesday with clouds increasing during the afternoon. This may bring with it the chance for rain showers or a thunderstorm during the afternoon and into the evening. Highs Wednesday will be in the upper 70s along the coast with low to middle 80s around NYC and inland.
